Huffman After School Enrichment Programs - Spring 2024
This spring we are so excited to partner with some of our favorite past programs and one fun new one! Before registering, please read all of the policies below. Scroll down for the schedule, more details and signup links!
Steps to Register:

*You must be cleared through VOLY. Once you sign-up through the links, I will add you in VOLY. This requirement ensures we are in compliance with district safety guidelines pertaining to PTA sponsored after school programs. Parents/Guardians will need to sign up to attend one of the sessions per semester for each of the programs in which you have a child participating. If this will keep you from enrolling, please contact Shawna - programs@huffmanpta.org.
All Spring programs will meet the week of January 15th through the week of May 6th. *Dynasty Dance does have an 8 week option that ends sooner.
Class times will be the same for all programs from 2:55-3:55p. Please pick-up in the front carline with your Huffman tag at 3:55p.
Some program registration provides a different time. I am trying to communicate this uniform time for everyone out of respect for our administrators who must stay on campus for the duration. All programs have agreed to these terms.

Program: Gabe'Spanish Academy
This Spanish program is designed especially for beginners, from kinder to 5th grade. Our goal is for each child to acquire Spanish in a natural, spontaneous, and fun way, according to their ages and needs. For this reason, we separate them into two groups. k-2nd grade and 3rd-5th grade in two different rooms. Don’t miss this opportunity that Huffman PTA offers your child, start learning a new language this Spring semester!

After school dance is an imaginative dance class for kids! This class will introduce beginning level students to the basics of Ballet, Jazz, and Hip-Hop in a fun, imaginative, and engaging way! Each week your dancer will complete a fun warm-up, signature DDA choreography, with special emphasis on themed curriculum and performance skills.
Dates: 8 week session (1/23 – 3/26) OR 12 week session (1/23 - 4/23) plus recital on 5/4 at Plano Cox Playhouse Theater. *See flier for more important info about recital.

Program: "ArKIDtecture Super Structures"
Love building and designing super structures? Young architects will test materials, meet design constraints, and dream up amazing structures using a variety of different materials including LEGO bricks. Learn about Greek, Roman and Gothic architecture, by designing a temples, bridges, arches, pediments, "stained glass" widows and more. Kid's will participate in design challenges like earthquake proof building, build structures from around the world and create a LEGO structures that includes architectural design elements.

Students work together on structured improvisations, group activities, speech, creative movement activities, theater games, and more. We provide a fun and fast-paced environment that teaches valuable academic and social skills, such as teamwork, leadership, and public speaking.

Program: STEM FUNdamentals with LEGO Materials
Level up your engineering skills with Play-Well TEKnologies and tens of thousands of LEGO parts! Apply real-world concepts in physics, engineering, and architecture through engineer-designed projects. Projects are rotated seasonally to ensure that even returning students get a new experience, so join us to design and build as never before and explore your craziest ideas.

The PSL Chess program empowers our learners and strengthens their problem-solving skills with a curriculum designed to challenge all ages and levels of chess development. We emphasize chess fundamentals and good sportsmanship. PSL Chess students gain tools from their chess playing that positively impact their academic performance. This award-winning club keeps chess learning fresh, fun, and engaging!

At the core of Good For All Yoga Programs is a pure and genuine intent to be of service to our community and to help raise emotionally, mentally, and physically strong individuals. Good For All Yoga Programs include breathwork, mindfulness, and focus. Our curriculum puts emphasis on building awareness, improving focus & developing a self-nourishing attitude.
