SUBJECT: November News

This month we have a couple of reminders but plenty of NEW news so keep reading, and stay safe Huff Family!

General PTA Meeting

Next Thursday, November 12th we will have our second PTA meeting of the year.  Pencil us in for 7:00 pm and we'll send out the Zoom link next week!

Reflections Art Contest

The National PTA Reflections Program is America's oldest and largest arts education program of its kind. Reflections welcomes students of all grade levels and abilities to explore and be involved in the arts. Click HERE for more information on how to participate!

Join the Huffman PTA in 2020-2021

We are excited to announce that we have more and more Huffman PTA members joining us daily.  This is a great group of parents and staff who support our Huffman student experience and community.  We would love to have you join us!

When you join the Huffman PTA for the first time or renew your membership for the 2020-2021 school year, you are helping to provide enrichment programming and events for EVERY single student at Huffman Elementary.

Our goal is 100% participation from our Huffman community to ensure EVERY student has a voice and to help EVERY child develop the confidence to become a great student, citizen and leader. We encourage parents, grandparents, students, staff, and community members to join the Huffman PTA.  Your membership and support makes us stronger as a community.

If you join the Huffman PTA, it does not mean you must volunteer.  By joining the Huffman PTA, you are simply showing your support for extra programming and events serving Huffman students and families.  We hope to have you join us this year!

Click HERE to join today!  If you have any questions, please contact Stefani Sereboff at membership@huffmanpta.org.

December Fundraiser

Next month we have a super fun fundraiser lined up!  Paint N Party in Plano is going to be donating a portion of proceeds earned during the week of December 1-6!  You can paint a pottery piece in their studio or pick up a kit to complete at home.  We will send out more information soon, but wanted to get this fun opportunity on your calendars!

Yearbook Photos

Don't forget to be taking and saving photos of your students for the yearbook!  Picture Day is coming up soon, but we love the candid shots as well!

We are THANKFUL for our Teachers!

This month the Kindergarten parents will be the ones treating the teachers and staff BUT we need everyone's help to create a Thankful Tree.  Please print out this template and return your completed leaves to the office by next Friday, November 13th. Some face to face students may complete this in class, but we want all 500 students on our tree!

IEP/ARD Basics Class

Our fabulous PISD Special Education Team has scheduled some online information sessions, and this month's is about IEP/ARD Basics (Individualized Education Plan/Admission Review Dismissal).  If you have a child in Special Ed, Speech, or may at some point, this is a great opportunity to learn more.  See the flyer HERE.

Donations Contest

Behind the school we have a World Wear Project Bin.  The school receives money for every pound of clothes and shoes that are donated each month.  During the month of November, we get an extra $100 if we can collect over 2,500 lbs of donations!  As you switch from warm to cold weather clothes, don't forget about this excellent and convenient donation opportunity.

DID YOU KNOW?

As our school adapts to education COVID style, they are finding they have some unusual needs that the PTA is helping to provide.  If you are able to donate, they are currently in need of disposable masks, bottled water (the small ones are great), and individually wrapped snacks.  Any donations will be gratefully accepted by the front office.
