In celebration of Black History Month, starting Thursday, February 3rd, Huffman PTA will lead a month-long community engagement series aimed at shining a bright light on the contributions (great and small) that African Americans have made in shaping our United States of America. 

This year, we'd like to focus on food.  For the entire month we will focus on:

• Black food innovators - past and present, local and national

• The foods we ALL enjoy - stories of the foods that have traveled the Atlantic Slave Trade/been created out of the need and ingenuity of Black Americans 

• Black-owned food related businesses in and around Plano

Friday, February 11th our students will celebrate Valentine's Day with Friendship Parties!  These parties are super special because the students work together on a service project to give back to our community.  This year we are making care packages for our health care heroes!  Sign up to contribute supplies HERE.  (Students will be provided with a treat and exchanging valentine cards is welcome!)

We are so hopeful that we will continue to have more opportunities for volunteers to be in the building in 2022, but in order to do so you MUST complete the background check through https://plano.voly.org/ If you have not done this yet, go ahead and do it now because it may take a few days to process (the actual application takes just minutes).

Speaking of volunteer opportunities, Field Day is just 5 weeks away!  Make sure you have completed your background check so that you are able to help.  Our scholars have grade level colors that they wear this day, and you are welcome to wear things you already have, or order a special "Field Day" shirt HERE!  (The colors stay the same year to year, so feel free to order up a size and wear for a couple years!)

Our Yearbook Chair has been hard at work on our 21-22 Huffman Yearbook!  We will be reaching out with requests for photos & art, but if you'd like to order a yearbook now, click HERE.

We'd like to ask the Huffman staff to "Be Our Valentine!" for our February Teacher Appreciation Event.  Third Grade parents, sign up HERE to help contribute snacks and small gifts for them to enjoy!
